• Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States. It is a federal holiday, and although it is often celebrated with religious overtones, is principally a secular holiday. Common Thanksgiving activities include a break from work or school, a Thanksgiving dinner, parades, and American football games. Ideas for Thanksgiving Bingo

1. Thanksgiving bingo is an ideal school activity in the run up to the holiday. It's fun, helps children improve their word recognition and reading skills, and can trigger classroom discussions about the various aspects of the holiday.
   
   
2. Thanksgiving can also be played in languages other than English. For example, in a foreign language class, you could play the game in French, Spanish, German or Italian.
   
   
   • Thanksgiving bingo cards can be printed with English words, or their French, Spanish, German or Italian equivalents.
   • You can make the bingo calls in English, or in the foreign language. Thus, depending on how you organize the game, you can require students to translate to or from the foreign language, or you could simply play the entire game in French, Spanish, German or Italian
   • For an extra challenge, why not make sure all aspects of the game, not just the bingo calls, are conducted in French, Spanish, German or Italian
   
   
3. Thanksgiving bingo is also suitable for use in ESL (English as a Second Language) and EFL (English as a Foreign Language) classes. Both playing the game, and organizing the game, in English, provides excellent practise for ESL and EFL students.
